• Changing How We Look At Things
One of my favorite quotes comes from Wayne Dyer, a spiritual teacher I admired greatly but who no longer walks on Earth with us. He said, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” I have thought about this wisdom many times in my life, especially when I was feeling down or depressed about something. I have been able to turn situations completely around by taking this advice. Do I choose to focus on the negative in a situation… Read more: Changing How We Look At Things
  • Sailing
Recently a friend asked if I’d like to take a sailing class with her. Of course, I said yes because there aren’t too many things I say no to unless it involves swimming with sharks or jumping from high places. Sailing seemed easy compared to those two. I hadn’t given it much thought. 😳 Last night was our first class. The wind was present, but calm, and so was the water. We began at the chalkboard where I was introduced to an entirely new vocabulary.… Read more: Sailing
  • More Than Asanas
When I attended my first yoga teacher training decades ago, I was intrigued by what my teacher said one day. He declared, “Yoga asanas are just a small part of a yoga practice. How you treat others is also part of your practice.” I have never forgotten those words even though most of the others have tumbled over the waterfall of memories and have long since headed down the river! As I look out into the world today, I am struck by how important this… Read more: More Than Asanas

  • Paddle Boarding: A Beautiful Day on the River
It was a great day of Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga yesterday. Nine lovely people joined me on the beautiful Farmington River for a Paddle Board lesson and yoga class. The sun was shining, the water was cool, and the atmosphere was very peaceful. Floating on the river while practicing is a wonderful way to feel our connection to this Earth and everything on it. The senses are awakened. The river creates a fluid, yet peaceful yoga mat. I truly believe that this is one… Read more: Paddle Boarding: A Beautiful Day on the River
